Consignment of Moderna Vaccine will reach Nepal, 40 lakh doses will be received through COVAX

Nepal is going to get a consignment of Moderna Corona Vaccines soon. It has been financed by the World Bank, after which a consignment of 4 lakh doses is going to be received here. This information was given by the local media on Saturday. The Himalaya Times quoted Nepal’s Health Minister Umesh Shrestha as saying, ‘Nepal is one of the beneficiaries of the Kovax price sharing scheme and I am happy that we were able to finalize this arrangement even in challenging circumstances. Now a safer and more effective vaccine will be available in Nepal.

Nepal had tied up with GAVI (Global Alliance for Vaccines and Immunizations) for the purchase of Moderna Vaccine. By March of next year, the vaccine will start getting in the country. Nepal wants to give a dose of vaccine to 72 percent of its country’s population to prevent corona. Apart from this, a target has been set to give vaccine to the age group of 12-17 years in the country.

Nepal has been given financial assistance of $ 104 million from the World Bank in the war with Corona. AstraZeneca’s first shipment was received here last Saturday. Japan has promised to deliver about 1.6 million doses to Kathmandu through the Kovax facility.

America’s Johns Hopkins University released the data of Korana infection in the world on Saturday morning. According to this, the number of global infections has reached 206,196,367 so far and 4,344,715 people have died due to this. So far, 4,610,658,306 doses have been administered under the ongoing vaccination to prevent the corona epidemic in the world. The situation in America is worse since the beginning of the pandemic. So far, the total number of infected people has gone up to 36,592,398 and the death toll is 621,005.
