President Ram Nath Kovind will address the nation on Saturday on the eve of 75th Independence Day. The address will be telecast on the entire national network of All India Radio (AIR) and all Doordarshan channels in Hindi and English versions from 7 pm onwards. According to a release issued from Rashtrapati Bhavan, it will be telecast in regional languages on Doordarshan after Hindi and English on its regional channels. It said that the broadcast in regional languages will be done on the regional networks of All India Radio at 9.30 pm.
The Central Government has started ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’ to commemorate 75 years of India’s independence. Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated it on 12 March and flagged off the Dandi March from Sabarmati Ashram in Ahmedabad. According to PTI, the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has prepared a series of innovative programs for ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’. The Ministry said that the objective of these programs is to ensure the participation of people in remembering the spirit of sacrifice and patriotism in the journey of ‘New India’.
The ministry said that Doordarshan will also telecast films with the spirit of devotion and sacrifice, such as ‘Hindustan Ki Kasam’ and ‘Tiranga’ on August 15. Doordarshan will conduct special telecasts on Independence Day throughout the day, including flag hoisting on the Red Fort ramparts and other important programs, according to the statement.
To instil a sense of pride and confidence amongst the citizens that the Indian Army is committed to defend the country in all kinds of terrains and climates. Army teams will climb 75 mountain passes to mark this momentous occasion. The Ladakh region includes Sasrala Pass, Stockpochan Pass in Kargil region, Satopanth, Harshil, Uttarakhand, Phim Karnala, Sikkim and Point 4493, Tawang region of Arunachal Pradesh.
