According to the Meteorological Department, Southwest Monsoon is active over Kerala due to which wind speed reaching 40-50 kmph is expected in the southeast Arabian Sea. Fishermen have been advised not to venture into the sea. A yellow alert for heavy rains has been sounded in Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Idukki, Ernakulam, Thrissur and Kasaragod districts on August 8.

Light to moderate rain possible in these states

However, Maharashtra and Gujarat seem to be getting relief from the rains. The Meteorological Department says that rain activities will be less in Maharashtra and Gujarat for the next five days. On the other hand, according to the Skymet Weather report, light to moderate rain may occur in some parts of Bihar, Jharkhand, some parts of Odisha, East Madhya Pradesh, western parts of Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana during the next 24 hours.
