A murder case has come to light in Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh. In a suspected case of ‘honour killing’, a 20-year-old woman, who had eloped with a man from a different community, was killed by her family members at their home in Gwalior city, a police officer said on Thursday. Was. The family members tried to hide this whole matter. After the incident on August 2, the family tried to dismiss the case as a case of suicide, but the forensic report refuted their claim, after which the woman’s father and brother were arrested on Wednesday, while three others were absconding. The search for the accused is on.

The woman had left with a man from another community on June 5 and came back on July 7. City Superintendent of Police Atmaram Sharma said that after his disappearance, his parents had lodged a missing report at the Janakganj police station. After she returned, the police sent her to a women’s shelter home. On July 31, the woman agreed to live with her parents after which she returned home.

Later on August 2, her father went to the police station and claimed that his daughter had committed suicide by hanging, the official said. After this a team of police along with forensic experts went to the spot to investigate the matter. The officer said that after investigating the spot, the police got suspicious and later forensic experts in their report also said that the woman did not commit suicide, but others hanged her.

He said that when the woman’s father and other relatives were questioned, they told the police that they had killed her and tried to call it a case of suicide. The police later arrested the victim’s father and brother and registered a case of murder, the officer said. He said the search was on for three other absconding accused – the woman’s uncle and two cousins.
